I don't think they're expecting "Bend It Like Beckham".

Poor New Girl has been dobbed in to give a presentation to a bunch of very boring people. She has emailed me to say it will be very tempting to chuck a sickie that day, and I don't blame her when I look at the topic:

GOAL ALIGNMENT
The strategic setting of reward and recognition processes to enable the business wide achievement of an objective.

I mean to say, whatever happened to telling people to do the jobs they get paid for??

I was amused by the 'ladies' in the audience at that soccer game last night with the 'Bend Me Beckham' banner.

Almost as much as I was by the outright violence of this 'friendly' game.

Well said.

We all like to be recognised and a pat on the back is always nice, but I thought the weekly pay cheque was meant to help us reach our objectives.

Livewire - Nice of you to pop your head up. I'm sure Mr Beckham thought they were a lovely bunch of English roses.

Rodney - I sometimes think all this "reward" rubbish that management likes to go on about is to cover up the fact that they don't want to do the hard work of making the workplace a more palatable place to be.

I got a horror chill reading this. I kind of thought you were joking about the language they use.

By the way, can we meet up soon? Have something must discuss with you.

Unfortunately because of 'the boom' and the insipid Gen Y crowd, you now need to pander to their every need just to get them to show up in the morning.
