People Who Need People

Boxer Girl and I were chatting yesterday. She's going to a friend's 40th birthday party this weekend. Eighty people will be in attendance. Eighty?!

"Yeah," said Boxer Girl, "I'll probably have about eighty at my 40th, maybe closer to a hundred."

I checked my address book. Okay, so I've just added New Girl - yes, things have progressed that far - and that takes me up to 45 entries. Three quarters of the 45 live either interstate or overseas. I couldn't imagine them wanting to travel for my 40th.

Good thing our house only holds about a dozen people.

Come on Haze, you should think more positively than that. My parents just drove from Brisbane to Cooktown for the 60th of someone they've only known for a few years (and don't like all that much).

Or you could have a virtual party using the newfangled interwebby thingy-bits.

A friend just got married. She had 5 bridesmaids (I had 2, my sister and my best friend). I thought 5 was a lot. Her maid of honor will be getting married in December with 10 bridesmaids and 10 groomsmen.

I can't even think of 20 people to invite to a party!

It's just a small do, with 500 of my closest friends.
