Hot Mama

Last week in Canberra I discovered the Italian hot chocolate - thick and scrumptious, like a hot chocolate pudding, and just as wobbly.

I shared this intelligence with New Girl who decided we must find not only a recipe for such a delicacy, but also a Perth-based purveyor of same.

Today we staggered into il gelato on Rokeby Road in Subiaco, gasped with delight at the confirmation that Italian hot chocolate was indeed on the menu, screamed an order at the good woman behind the counter and plonked ourselves down to wait impatiently. The wobbly jelly-like treat set down before us was truly worth every drawn-out, agonising second of waiting. It's cool and rainy today so we could properly enjoy the moment.

On the way home New Girl bought some false eyelashes. She claims that she will wear them on her chin this afternoon and when people come in for advice she will stroke her chin thoughtfully, gaze out the window and say, "Let me think about that." And they will wait. In rapt expectation.
Because. You know. Hair on the chin = respect.

Mmmmmm... thick and wobbly hot chocolate ~drools~

And New Girl is right. One must be able to stroke the hair on one's chinny-chin-chin to look thoughtful.

But thick and wobbly, pudding-like hot chocolate! ~drools copiously~

Is there a connection between the consumption of Italian hot chocolate before the purchase of chinlashes or is that a normal behaviour? Just curious. It seems the kind of thing I'd do only while hopped up on copious amounts of sugar.

Hot chocolate mix can be purchased at the deli on Beaufort Street in Mount Lawless, and in the import deli at the shops in Mawson, in that back strip where the good bakery relocated to. Tosolinis sells it too - they sell the packets AND the drink. I also found a shop in New York that sells a different, Spanish brand. The shop is near Borders in New York (ha ha there is a Borders on every block in New York... bliss... it's on the east side of Central Park, I forget the exact address).

If I'd known you didn't know about Italian Hot Chocolates before now I would have inducted you years ago! I feel terrible for not sharing this bliss with you. Bro and I are going to restock on the weekend, shall we get you some?
