I can walk under ladders...can't I?

See a penny pick it up
All day long you'll have good luck...

Yes, all very well, but here is my question to you: what does one then do with the lucky coin? Does one keep it, perhaps maintain a special jar or box - a receptacle, if you will - of lucky currency, or does one return it to circulation so that it may go forth and bring luck to others?

I favour the latter approach and I'm sure some the former, but who can say who is right? It seems that Mother Goose was distressingly vague on the appropriate processes for post-lucky coin discovery.

Sometimes it's a pin. What then?

I'm sure you can spend it - on a Lotto ticket if you insist on testing whether the rhyme works.
