The new-but-leaving-soon CEO has decreed that he likes us to include cartoons in our presentations, to give them a bit of pep! and pizazz!.
Mostly I just want to get the damn thing over and done with, as I'm sure do most of the audience.
Last week I was giving a presentation to a group of gilded youths, interspersed with a few cartoons according to the orders from on high. I staggered through to the end of the wretched thing and then asked the audience if they had any questions. One young man raised his hand. He'd unnerved me somewhat throughout the talk as every time I'd looked towards his part of the room I was aware of him staring at me without blinking. He seemed a trifle on the intense side.
So he raised his hand and I said, "Yes?" and he said, "Could you go back to the last slide please? The cartoon? I don't get it."
