Modesty Blaise

Things are getting tense in Modesty Blaise. That wretched scoundrel Gabriel has just killed his off-sider, Southern, and he's preparing to make good his escape from the flooding underground chamber with his brutish thug Henry - who inexplicably wears a jaunty boater while preparing a conflagration in the house above. Such are the fashion whimsies of British oafs and henchmen.

Left behind to battle - futilely! - against the rising waters are Modesty & Willie, chained to the chamber walls by the heartless Gabriel.

He's getting away with the only copy of Bell's ceramic formula!
Things are looking grim for our heroine and hero!

Gabriel is mocking Modesty & Willie, regretting that he won't be around to see them die. But what's this? Modesty tells him, "I wouldn't be so sure, Gabriel - you've slipped up."

Ah, they always do. But how will I ever wait for tomorrow's edition to see the tables turn??
