A Measured Response

k. and I were making plans.

“I’ll pick you up at 6 and we’ll go to dinner. Are you happy with that?” I asked her.

“Well, I don’t know. ‘Happy’ is such a qualitative word, isn’t it? I can certainly agree that that’s what we’re going to do. You see, I’m a quantitative kind of gal.”

“You want quantitative, you should see my credit card balance.”

“No, that’s still qualitative – you’re not buying stuff, you're buying happiness.”
