Things can get a little dreary in Educational Linguistics. In the first couple of weeks, we were given an exercise to identify words with different vowel sounds. Here's the list as we got it:
pen said death mess mean
ton toast both note toes
hoot good moon grew suit
dud guy died mine eye
A young chap in the class and I decided that, with a little judicious punctuation, you could make poetry:
Pen said, "Death mess - mean."
Ton, toast? Both. Note toes.
Hoot! Good moon grew suit!
Dud guy died? Mine eye!
Of course, we have an assignment due next week and I don't even understand the question. Perhaps I should leave the poetry for after hours.
