Yesterday I happened to be driving down the street that's on the way to The Burp's house. I flicked on the radio and they were playing some stupid, sad song and I felt a pang, like being homesick.
But I did get to see The Burp last Friday night, and despite thinking she'd still be in Albany, Carrington made it as well (dammit!). We had a good night, chatting away, eating yummy Mexican food at Zapata's, hearing about Carrington's adventures in Wonderland (ie, the new Ikea). Although Carrington was a bit nervous about doing anything to get blogged (like being so excited about the new Ikea that she took a bunch of photos of it on her mobile). Well, what can I say? It was just a lovely evening, devoid of anything bloggable.
Oh. Hang on a minute. There was that one thing.
Because Carrington had been late renewing her car rego, she had to take it over the pits. And of course they found something. She bet me and The Burp $50 that we couldn't guess what it was. We were allowed one question and The Burp eliminated the possibility that it was anything mechanical. We thought for a couple of minutes and then I said, "It can't be anything obvious, because that's the whole point of the bet. It has to be something that would never occur to you...what about the window tinting? I reckon it's the tinting." The Burp agreed and Carrington shrieked with disbelief that we'd snagged it.
The Burp and I enjoyed a moment or two of basking in the glory of victory and we ordered a carafe of cocktails to celebrate.
But here's the thing. It's kind of awkward but....I guess we'll collect on the bet the next time we're all together?
